i can't help but shake my head at this image. it's a CT scan (basically, a radiologic 'slice' through the body) of a lifelong smoker.
there are three important, related features on this scan.
- in the lower left of the image (the man's right lung, close to his back), the thick arrow points to a bulla, a hallmark of emphysema.
- near the top, toward the left side of the image (the man's right lung, close to his chest), the thin arrow points to a lung tumour.
- at the top right corner of the image, marked with an asterisk, is none other than a packet of cigarettes.

i am not sure who you are, but that's ok. the primary reason for this blog is as a sort of journal for myself, and a means of some of the people i know, such as my family and close friends who are overseas, to keep up with what i am doing. it is frequently random things that caught my attention, that i one day might click back to and find interesting, or just find interesting what i found interesting then. or it allows my parents to see some pictures i took on a holiday. it also gives me a medium to write prose, the likes of which perhaps only i am interested in, or agree with, but nonetheless serves as a chance to write from a particular viewpoint.
i don't expect you to know what my intents are with my writings. if validation is what i seek, than i will find a ready source of such in my mother, who i know will read this.
this is a pretty piss-weak and ill-conceived attack on someone you don't even know. get a life pal. if you care not for what's on this page, close the window.

i'll post your sunnies to you soon ok. i didn't want to send them initially so soon cos you were in detroit or cleveland or something... then they sort of got lost in the back of my drawer. i'll sort it out.
